WALK IN THE PARK – MAY 13TH
We are holding a ‘Walk in the Park’ on Saturday, May 13th and you are cordially invited to join us with your dog/s.
This will take place at Astley Park Chorley, Lancashire, PR7 1XA (close to M61 and M6 motorways).
The event will comprise a lead walk around Astley Park where members and guests can exercise their dogs. For those who have not seen Astley Hall since the extensive restorations, it is an opportunity to see the work which has been carried out to date and also possibly have a look around the inside of the Hall.
We will meet at the car park next to Astley Hall (PR7 1XA), at 10.30am on Saturday (May 13th) for a walk of about 3 miles. There is adequate parking on the car park.
We will pass Astley Hall, the lake with fountain and along paths following the River Chor to the Akhurst lodge, passing the bowling greens and tennis courts and the recently unearthed lost fountain and divert for a walk through the woods passing the Sensory Garden and War Memorial to the front facade at Park Road.
We will proceed passing the reed bed along the perimeter path to take in the view of Astley Hall from across the lake before proceeding on the path back to cafe Ambro where light refreshments, hot/cold drinks and also lunches are available. There is also seating in the courtyard for those who prefer to sit outside with their dogs. The cafe has become known for its good food. Some of the produce is grown in the walled gardens where a variety of old varieties of apple trees are grown.
Please note that the walk is not suitable for puppies. However, you could shorten the walk to suit puppies at your own discretion. Just have a word with John at the start of the walk.
Members/guests may wish to have a look around the walled gardens possibly before or after lunch and take the opportunity to look around Astley Hall.
Suitable clothing and stout shoes recommended.
Members/guests are responsible for their dogs, for respecting wildlife and the local by-laws which are signed. Please pick up after your dog and dispose in the bins provided. The club accepts no responsibility for members/guests or their dogs. There is no charge but a small donation on the day to The Rescue Trust of North West Golden Retriever Club would be appreciated
